Iran-U.S. talks to be held on Friday
WANA (May 21) – Oman’s Foreign Minister announced that the fifth round of talks between Iran and the United States will take place on Friday in Rome.
Badr Al-Busaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, said on Wednesday that the fifth round of indirect negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States will be held on Friday, May 23, in Rome, Italy.
Previously, four rounds of indirect talks between Iran and the U.S. were held with Oman’s mediation—three rounds in Muscat and one (the second round) in Rome.
Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, responded today to recent comments by U.S. officials regarding Iran’s uranium enrichment program, stating: “Our position is crystal clear: enrichment will continue, with or without an agreement. We are evaluating whether to participate in the next round of talks. We stand firm against excessive demands at the negotiating table, but we have never abandoned diplomacy.”
